Hand Made Animals by Suzy Root

Foxes by Suzy Root

Just in time! These wonderful hand made foxes and birds were brought in by Suzy Root the designer of Super-B animals. Each one is an original piece of art. I personally love the distinct personalities of each one.

This little red one is perfect tree ornament size. The dog is a push-me-pull-me, about 2 feet long.
Stop in and get them while they are still available. Rumor has it, this might be the last batch ever!

Scarlet Chamberlin Jewelry Trunk Show, Saturday, December 19th!

Scarlet Chamberlin necklaces, Abra Ancliffe silhouettes, Chelsea Heffner hand-printed silk scarf above.

Scarlet Chamberlin has created some new pieces especially for Workroom719. Everyone is invited to her Trunk Show Event this Saturday, December 19th from 12-7pm (wine will be served).

The day the workroom shop was confirmed, Scarlet selected stones, leather , and silver and gold and chains from her personal 15 year collection of treasures. This entire collection has been made from the selections made that day.  The results reflect an exciting combination of form, color and texture.  The pieces above are just a taste of the beautiful jewelry she will have this Saturday.  There will be a large selection of earrings and bracelets at the event, as well as the statement necklaces above, for amazing gift giving.

Scarlet is known for her custom pieces as well - she just made two amazing pieces for me from stones and silver beads that my grandmother gave me.  I will probably be wearing them at the event.

When: Saturday, December 19th, 12-7pm
Where: Workroom719

We are looking forward to seeing you.

10 days!

Just a reminder of what something can look like after 10 days and a lot of work.
I love the before and after shots:

Before and After/Front to Back

Before and After/Back to Front

The transformation of the space could not have been achieved with out the help of the MFA students at PNCA/OCAC Applied Craft and Design Program and Randy Higgins from Vizwerks. The MFA Students made the beautiful work tables and the wood wall panels. They also helped to install everything in the shop.  Many thanks!

I almost fainted...

I almost fainted when I opened this package from Eva Wylie today. I was so excited I had to take some photos before hanging. This is a silkscreen and collage on paper called "Windmill Island". See the detail images below.

Getting Ready!

At home painting our WORKROOM sign! Can't wait to get in there- grand opening is this Thursday night starting at 6pm. Come on by for wine, snacks and see what we all have been working on!

We're In!

Sadly, we didn't get any true "before" shots of the space. From the sound of it, the coat of paint that's now gracing our walls did wonders! So here we are, in downtown SW Portland, in a perfectly sized, excellently positioned retail space. (A former See's Candy Shop as you can see from on of the images)How did this all happen? Direct any and all questions to Rachel. I am just appreciating the opportunity, and treating it like magic!
